New Year message

Sensei Margaret wishes all members and their families a very Happy New Year, and hopes everyone remained safe during the recent storms — Scotland in particular saw some significant snowfall.

As we begin 2026 there is much to look forward to. The course calendar is full, with opportunities for students at every level to train, test themselves, and deepen their understanding of Ki Aikido. Whether you are preparing for your first grading or refining technique at senior level, there is something for everyone in the months ahead.

The Federation continues to grow, with clubs across the country welcoming new members. If you know someone who has been curious about Aikido, the New Year is the perfect time to invite them along to a class. No special equipment is needed — just comfortable clothing and a willingness to learn.

Congratulations

Tony Yates — 5th Dan

We are delighted to congratulate Tony Yates from Bristol on achieving the rank of 5th Dan.

Reaching 5th Dan is a significant milestone in any Aikido journey. It reflects not only years of dedicated practice but a deep and continuing commitment to understanding the principles of Ki. Tony’s achievement is the result of consistent training, patience, and a genuine love of the art.

Congratulations, Tony, from everyone in the Federation. We look forward to seeing you continue to develop and to share your knowledge with students at all levels.
